At Nécessaire, we believe in less but better. We design the personal care we need, and the name says the rest: a nécessaire is the small case you pack before you leave, the one that holds only what earns its place.

This page is packed the same way. Seven items go on the list first, a shelf for the hands comes next, then the sets made for trying, the scents, the questions people ask and the road a parcel takes to your door. Everything written here is a line the brand already put on its own pages.

The home page starts from four places: Essentials For The Body, Hands, Hair And Lips. It also points to something newer: Explore Our New Treatments For The Body And Scalp.

Nothing on the list is decoration. Every product keeps its name in the same plain format: the product first, then the active or the texture, then the scent and the size. A line like The Hand Cream | Multi-Butter | Olibanum / 65 ml reads like the label on the box, not like a slogan, and that is the voice this page borrows. Read it slowly and you will see the same order repeated all the way down: product, active, scent, size.

Seven items, each one a line from the shop. The black pump goes first, because it is the one you will want at the end of the day. The tubes for the hands go last, because they live in a pocket.

How to read it: the large number is the place in the case, the line under the name is the scent and the size, and the short paragraph says what the thing looks like on the shelf. The photos on the right alternate between the pack shot and the texture shot, because the shop shows both on its product pages, one for the container and one for what is inside.

We believe in treating the body like the face. We use facial-grade ingredients to deliver results to the skin. We use select synthetic ingredients when they are scientifically proven to increase the effectiveness of our formulas and/or enhance their safety.

We do not formulate to specific skin types. All people, all skin types can use Nécessaire products.

One wash, many scents. The four below are the ones the shop shows on its gift pages, each in the sizes it is actually sold. Under the photos you will find the wash that carries each scent, because the shop gives every scent its own formula name: Multi-Oil, Multi-Mineral, Multi-Enzyme and Multi-Acid. Below them, the full range of scents runs from woody to green to fragrance-free.

It is normal for The Body Wash to vary slightly in color, especially the Eucalyptus and Sandalwood versions, which contain pure essential-oil blends. Pure essential oils can take on different tones depending on the crop, region, and timing of harvest.

Once you place your order, it will take 1-2 business days to process. Orders placed after 12PM Eastern Standard Time (EST) will begin processing the next business day.

Shipping
Free standard shipping is available for orders $75 and above. Rush shipping is also available for $25. We ship to all 50 states in the US and Puerto Rico, and to Canada and the United Kingdom, delivery duties paid. For orders to Canada and the United Kingdom, we offer Standard and Expedited shipping options. Cost of shipping and transit time can vary depending on destination country, size of order, and shipping method chosen. The total price is inclusive of any duties & taxes, and Canadian customers should be aware that they may be subject to applicable duties and taxes on importation into Canada.

Tracking
You will receive a notification with a link to tracking information when your package ships. It can take some carriers up to 1 business day to show updates.

Returns
We accept returns within 30 days of purchase. Returns within the US are free. Opened products qualify as long as you have used less than 1/4 of the product. Refunds can take up to two weeks to be credited. They are issued back to the original payment method used, and original shipping charges will not be refunded. For International returns, the return shipping and any reverse duties & taxes are the responsibility of the customer, and we recommend insuring your package.

What skin types are Nécessaire products appropriate for?: Any of them; the answer is the same for every skin type, as the Effective column above explains. Check the ingredient listings if you have specific allergies, and try a patch test.
How long will my product last?: We recommend using our products within 12 months after opening. These are clean products formulated without many of the synthetic dyes and additives typically used to maintain color and texture, so color may change slightly.
How does The Body Wash cap work?: The Body Wash has a twist cap that needs to be activated. First, twist cap clockwise firmly to lock in place. Then twist cap counter-clockwise gently to open. Flip bottle and gently squeeze to pour.
Are your products gluten-free?: Nécessaire is not certified gluten-free. If that matters to you, read the ingredient listing on the product page before you add anything to the case.
Are your products vegan?: Our products do not contain any animal-derived ingredients. We are currently working on our vegan certification, so the label is not on the box yet.
My package arrived without a return slip. What do I do?: Our packages do not include return slips. Email the team with your order number and they will help you with your return, step by step.
Which products are best for sensitive skin?: For sensitive skin we recommend The Body Wash in Fragrance-Free and The Body Lotion in Fragrance-Free, which do not contain any added fragrance. Please check the ingredient listings if you have specific allergies, and consult your doctor before using our products if you have any major concerns.
